Overview of Public Involvement Efforts

One of the main goals of the Plan and Map Update was to involve the public at the highest level and make the process as transparent as possible.  Throughout the study process, there were a number of efforts made to ensure that the final products represent the needs and desires of Connecticut residents, corresponding agencies, and ConnDOT.  These efforts included:

  • Public meetings - held at four different locations in the state at two different times during the project.  Here, the public can learn about the project and ask to be added to a mailing list.  Summaries of past meetings are also provided here. Please visit Public Meetings for more information.
  • Steering Committee meetings - held regularly throughout the project to guide the Plan and Map Update. Please visit Steering Committee Meetings for more information.
  • One meeting with each Regional Planning Agency - to coordinate statewide efforts with ongoing local efforts.
  • Meetings with various state agencies and interest groups – to coordinate ConnDOT’s efforts with other agencies’ and groups ongoing efforts.
  • Meetings with other departments in ConnDOT – to coordinate Plan and Map Update with other ConnDOT departments’ ongoing efforts.
  • Project newsletters are found on the Project Documents page.
  • Project Website – to inform and provide written updates and details of project happenings.  This is also a venue for members of the public to make public comments.
  • The Public Meetings page will provide PDF files of public meeting agendas as well as the summaries of those meetings ordered from most recent to oldest. Any supporting material, such as PowerPoint slide shows, will be placed on the page when that material becomes available.
  • Comments - comments can be made using the Contact Us page.
